Wednesday 21st June
As part of Mencap’s Learning Disability Awareness week, with a focus on employment; three of Teesside University’s second year student nurses Sophie Hurne-Harding, Zoe Forth and Memuna Ahmed, used their enthusiasm and passion to construct an event hosted in the foyer of the School of Health and Social Care at Teesside University. The student nurses put together a stall with beautiful baked goods, a tombola and have organised a sponsored walk (set for 22nd July) all in aid of Mencap. They managed to raise £201.10 from their stall [pictured below] yesterday, with all proceeds going to Mencap and have requested you watch this space for the results of the sponsored walk!
With a focus on employment for people with a learning disability, Sophie managed to secure a representative from Dominos Pizza (Middlesbrough branch, pictured below) as they have an open drive, with success, to employ people with a learning disability. Very well done to Sophie, one of our student ambassadors, Zoe and Memuna for organising this event!
Should anyone have any queries about job openings at Dominos, please direct your queries to the Middlesbrough branch (01642 213000)
Should anyone wish to sponsor Zoe for the walk in aid of Mencap, please direct your queries and sponsors to Josh Hodgson (contact details below)
